Biography for Gail VanKanegan

Gail has been a Registered Nurse since 1982 and a Certified Family Nurse Practitioner since 1996. Her focus in practice is to help her patients prevent illness, manage their disease states, and minimize complications of disease. Gail provides numerous educational seminars on many health topics to professionals and to the lay community throughout the year. She has been published in Men's Health, local Quincy magazines, and newspapers, and she has authored the book, "How To Survive Your Hospital Stay, The Complete Guide To Getting The Care You Need -And Avoiding Problems You Don't", released December 2003. Additionally, Gail is very active in health care legislation and promoting the professional development of Advanced Practice Nurses. She served as a founding member of the Illinois Society for Advanced Practice Nursing (ISAPN), member of the ISAPN Board of Directors, Chaired the Program Committee for professional educational seminars, and presently is a member of the program committee. Gail volunteers locally in health clinics and community centers.
